Do your muscles tire quickly? Do you have low energy levels and feel tired throughout the day? Do you suffer from stress? The mineral magnesium can help you with this. In this article, we explain what magnesium bisglycinate is and how it differs from our X-Nutri Magnesium 500ml + Vit.B6 . Read on to find out more!
Magnesium in general
The mineral magnesium is involved in more than 300 processes in the body and is therefore essential for the body to function properly. Unfortunately, the body cannot produce magnesium itself, so it must be obtained through diet or supplementation.
Magnesium has a positive effect on various areas of the body, such as increased energy levels, reduced anxiety and stress levels, muscle and bone health, and more.
People who experience a lot of stress are known to consume more magnesium. It is therefore important to increase magnesium intake during such periods to prevent deficiencies. Examples include heavy and important competitions, training sessions in quick succession, students during exams or people with deadlines at work.
A magnesium deficiency is difficult to diagnose through blood tests, as magnesium is mainly stored in the bones. Possible symptoms of a deficiency include:
- muscle cramps or twitching muscles (think of a twitching eyelid)
- irritability
- sleep problems
- fatigue
As an athlete, you definitely want to avoid the above symptoms, as they can affect your athletic performance. Do you want to perform at your best? Then choose to take magnesium preventively during strenuous exercise or on very hot days.
Are you unsure whether you have a deficiency? Consult your general practitioner.
There are two different types of magnesium: magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium citrate. We recently added both variants to our X-Nutri range. We are happy to explain the difference between them.
X-Nutri Magnesiumbisglycinaat
This magnesium is available from us in capsule form. Magnesium bisglycinate is specifically recommended for people who suffer from stomach and intestinal complaints or are sensitive to these complaints, as this form rarely affects digestion. The capsules are easy to use and can be taken once a day, two capsules in the morning and two in the evening before bedtime.
This form of magnesium is often used to promote recovery in athletes or to help muscles relax after exercise. This jar is also very easy to take with you, for example, to altitude training camps or competitions abroad. If you respond less well to magnesium citrate, magnesium bisglycinate is a suitable formula for you.
Magnesium citrate
The X-Nutri Magnesium +Vit.B6 500ml is a liquid variant that many people use to quickly relieve cramps. Thanks to its liquid form, this variant works quickly and is popular with athletes who suffer from muscle cramps during and after exercise.
Please note: magnesium citrate can affect the intestines. If you are sensitive to intestinal complaints, we recommend using magnesium bisglycinate.
Do you have no immediate complaints but would like to use magnesium preventively? Then this formula is ideal for taking in the evening before bedtime or in the morning.
For athletes, this liquid version can also be useful in warm weather. You can add the liquid to a water bottle and take it with you while exercising.
