We receive questions almost every day about the carbohydrate content of each bar or gel. That’s why we thought it would be useful to provide you with a comprehensive overview, so that you can now make your choice even more easily, taking into account not only the carbohydrate content but also your body’s needs. Not all athletes necessarily need a gel containing 40g of carbohydrates or a gel enriched with minerals or caffeine.
Do you find it difficult to eat whilst exercising? Concap also offers alternatives to continue supporting you in the best possible way.
Overview of energy bars
Below is a list showing the carbohydrate content of each of our energy bars. Please note that each bar weighs 40 g.

Overview of energy gels
In the world of sport, everything revolves around precision — which is why every gram of carbohydrate is carefully counted. This naturally applies to our energy gels as well.
That’s why we’re pleased to provide you with a clear overview of the carbohydrate content per gel.
Please note: the contents vary by gel. For each gel, you’ll find how many grams or millilitres it contains and how many carbohydrates this portion provides.

Concap Beta Fuels are large 80 g gels with screw-top lids, which you can divide into two servings if you wish. This allows you to spread the energy evenly throughout your workout.
The Finale and Carbo+ gels contain caffeine, which provides an extra boost of both energy and mental focus towards the end of your workout.
Would you like to replenish your carbohydrates with extra electrolytes? If so, the High NRG gels, Energy Gel 55-11 Cherry and Energy Gel Peach (60 ml) are ideal for this.
Overview of Fruity bars
Do you find energy bars too heavy or difficult to eat? Are liquid gels not your thing? Then discover our Concap Fruity Bars!
When you’re exercising, they melt deliciously in your mouth and give you an instant energy boost that kicks in just as quickly as an energy gel, but with the convenience of a soft bar. Gentle on your stomach and gut, and super handy when you’re on the go.
Find out below how many carbohydrates you get per 40 g Fruity Bar – from highest to lowest:
- Concap Fruity bar Strawberry 32,9g
- Concap Fruity bar Lemon 32,9g
- Concap Fruity bar Grape 32,9g
- Concap Fruity bar Cherry 32,9g
- Concap Fruity bar Blueberry 32,3g
- Concap Fruity bar Kiwi 32,3g
The Strawberry and Lemon varieties are made with agar-agar and are therefore even gentler on the stomach and intestines than the other flavours. The remaining four flavours are made with pectin and are therefore similar in taste and texture to real gummy sweets. They provide energy just as quickly as a standard energy gel.
Alternatives to food
Are these fruity bars not your thing either, and do you simply not eat whilst exercising? Then use a higher dose of sports drink powder in your water bottle to replenish your carbohydrates. Our Concap Max Isotonic Lemon drink powder has been specifically developed for this purpose. You can increase the amount of this powder to up to three scoops in your water bottle. Please note: build this up gradually and don’t start with three scoops in your 500ml water bottle straight away.
For athletes competing in matches, this is often a way to ensure they consume enough carbohydrates. The advantage of this drink is that it is also enriched with salts and amino acids, providing extra support to ensure everything is adequately replenished. Furthermore, this drink powder helps to reduce muscle cramps and delay fatigue.
Did you know that you can also use our thirst-quenching Concap Isotonic drink powders at a rate of two sachets per water bottle? This is an easy way to increase your hourly carbohydrate intake without having to eat anything extra.
Tips
When undertaking strenuous exercise, it is important to prepare properly by eating carbohydrates beforehand, both the evening before and on the morning of the exercise itself.
Choose the right gel or bar for the right activity. For a half-hour warm-up, you don’t need a High NRG gel containing 40 g of carbohydrates if you’ve already eaten some carbohydrates beforehand. In that case, a small source of carbohydrates such as our Carbo NRG, or simply drinking enough fluids, is often sufficient.
